Iranian Economy Minister in India for Official Visit
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayyebnia is on an official visit to India to explore avenues for the promotion of economic relations between the two Asian countries.
Heading a high-ranking delegation, Tayyebnia arrived in the Indian capital of New Delhi on Friday to participate in meetings of the Iran-India Joint Economic Commission.
During the meetings of the commission, the two sides are slated to hold talks on ways to boost cooperation in various economic areas, including rail, road and sea transport, petrochemicals and construction of factories.
The Iranian economy minister said India has “considerable potential” for high economic growth, adding that the country is the second buyer of the Iranian crude.
Tayyebnia further expressed the hope that in the new atmosphere that will be created after the removal of anti-Tehran sanctions, the economic cooperation between Iran and India would surge.
The remarks come against the backdrop of a new wave of interest in ties with Iran after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear program.
The comprehensive nuclear deal between Iran and the six powers would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
Experts believe that Iran's economic growth would rise remarkably after the final nuclear deal takes effect.
