IRGC Construction Base Implementing 9 Mega Projects: Commander

ASSALUYEH (Tasnim) - Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Construction Base, a conglomerate belonging to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), said the base is working on nine mega projects in the country, the completion of which requires government funding.

So far, a sum of $25 billion has been spent on the nine projects, which are now 85 percent complete, but another $2.2 billion of funding is required to complete the projects and then reap an annual profit of $35 to $40 billion from them, General Ebadollah Abdollahi said on Monday.

He made the comments at a ceremony in the southern coastal region of Assaluyeh, held to inaugurate phases 15 and 16 of the giant offshore South Pars gas field.

“We call on the president, the administration and the cabinet ministers to help us with these nine mega projects so that they come into service in less than two years and produce a $40 billion revenue for the country,” the commander added.

President Hassan Rouhani and Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh were present in the inauguration ceremony.

The new phases of the gas field have been completed by Khatam al-Anbia Construction Base.

According to Zanganeh, six billion dollars of funds have been invested in the project to construct the phases, which produce 56.6 million cubic meters of sweet gas per day.

The South Pars gas field, whose development has been divided into 24 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf straddling the maritime border between Iran and Qatar. It is estimated that the Iranian section of the field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensates in place.
