Hellenic Petroleum Officials Due in Iran Friday: Source
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Representatives of Hellenic Petroleum, Greece's biggest oil refiner, are planned to meet top Iranian oil officials on Friday to discuss crude oil imports from the Islamic Republic following the removal of anti-Tehran sanctions, a company source said.
"Since the embargo has been lifted, Hellenic Petroleum can now discuss the possibility of a deal on crude oil supplies and on settling outstanding financial issues between the two sides,” the official said, Reuters reported on Monday.
Hellenic Petroleum was a major buyer of Iranian crude, which accounted for about 20 percent of the company's total annual crude oil imports before sanctions were imposed.
It came after Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and European Union’s Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini on Saturday announced in a joint statement that the implementation of the nuclear deal finalized between Tehran and world powers back in July 2015 has officially been started.
The announcement was made after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed Iran’s commitment to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
