President: Italy, France Enthusiastic to Boost Cooperation with Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani highlighted the achievements of his recent European tour, saying that Paris and Rome are very keen to boost cooperation with the Islamic Republic in diverse areas.

Speaking in a cabinet meeting on Sunday evening, President Rouhani described his recent visit to Italy and France as “significant and valuable” and discussed agreements reached between Iran and the European Union member states in the visit.

“Agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs), the attraction of foreign investment, the transfer of technology and the development of exports… and creation of job opportunities in the country based on the Resistance Economy policy are among the most important goals and achievements of the trip,” he noted.

Rouhani also emphasized that “the enthusiasm and serious will” of the host governments (Italy and France) to cooperate with Iran was remarkable during his trip.

Earlier last week, Rouhani paid an official visit to the Italian capital as the first destination of his European tour, which also took him to Paris.

The European visit was Rouhani’s first foreign trip after the nuclear deal between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) took effect on January 16.

The agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of action (JCPOA), has terminated all nuclear-related sanctions on Iran, reopened the doors of foreign investment to the country’s market, and prepared the ground for a much-anticipated economic boom.
