Embassy: French FM to Visit Iran with Big Business Delegation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – France’s embassy in Tehran said in a press release Sunday that French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault will be accompanied by a delegation of representatives from 60 companies in his forthcoming visit to Iran.

The French embassy said a number of the French companies whose representatives are in the delegation accompanying Ayrault will sign contracts with Iranian firms during the visit.

The trip will also provide an opportunity for talks on cooperation in the fields of research, higher education and culture, it added.

Moreover, the foreign ministers of the two countries are going to co-chair the first Joint Economic Commission between Iran and France, the press release noted.

It said Ayrault will hold meetings with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif during his stay in Tehran on January 30 and 31.

In the meetings, Ayrault and the Iranian officials will discuss the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a nuclear agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), and the French top diplomat will stress the need for all JCPOA parties to honor their commitments, it added.

Ayrault will also hold talks on Iran’s role in the region and in the crises in Syria, Yemen and Iraq, and will make it clear that those conflicts have only political solutions, the press release went on to say.
