Source Denies Missile Attack on Airbase in Syria’s Homs

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An informed source denied reports that the Shayrat airbase in Syria’s Homs has come under a missile attack.

The source told Tasnim on Tuesday that the reports on a Monday night missile attack on Shayrat airbase, located on the outskirts of the Western city of Homs, are untrue.

It was reported by some media outlets on Tuesday that Syria’s anti-aircraft defenses had shot down a number of missiles targeting an airbase in the Homs province and a military airport in capital Damascus on Monday night.

Later, Reuters quoted a Syrian regional commander as saying that a false alarm had led to Syrian air defense missiles being fired overnight and there was no fresh attack on Syria.

Shayrat airbase was targeted last year in a US cruise missile attack in response to an alleged chemical attack on the terrorist-held town of Khan Shaykhun.
