Iran’s Top Security Official, Russian Counterpart Discuss Regional Issues

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani and his Russian counterpart, Nikolai Patrushev, held talks about a host of topics, including the latest developments in the Middle East.    

In the meeting, held in the Russian resort city of Sochi on Tuesday, Shamkhani and Patrushev exchanged views about various regional issues, particularly the protracted crisis in Syria, local Russian media said on Wednesday.

Shamkhani is in Russia to take part in the 9th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues, due to be held in Sochi on April 25 and 26.

On the first day of the event, Shamkhani is slated to deliver a speech about security situation of the Middle East and politico-economic developments as well as Iran’s experiences and strategies in countering security and terrorist threats.

During his trip, Shamkhani will also hold bilateral and multilateral talks with senior officials from other countries participating in the conference.
