Iran Unveils ‘Sayyad’ Super Heavy Tank-Carrier

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Force Ahmad Reza Pourdastan unveiled an optimized super heavy tank-carrier, dubbed as Sayyad (Hunter).

The new vehicle is capable of carrying tanks and heavy armored equipment weighing up to 200 tons.

The driver room is also upgraded and gives the vehicle a remarkable maneuver power in different terrains and weather.

Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan referred to the fresh round of threats against Iran, saying that the production of the super heavy tank-carrier is in line with boosting Iranian Armed Forces’ preparedness against growing threats.

“With the endeavor of engineers and the Ground Force’s technical corps, the commercial super heavy vehicle was transformed into a tactical, operational and tank-carrier,” Pourdastan stated, and added that the new vehicle will increase mobility of heavy tanks and armored vehicles.

The commander described the purpose of such upgrade as providing further support for infantry, armored and artillery corps as well as boosting capabilities of missile units.

On April 20, the Iranian Ground Forces also unveiled a new indigenous T-72 Tank simulator.

Over the past years, Iran has made important breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.
