Iran Raps Land Exchange Plan between PA, Israel

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Araqchi expressed concern about the territorial exchange plan between Palestinian Authority and the Zionist regime of Israel, describing the issue as a symbol of expulsion of Palestinians from their country.

Araqchi told reporters on Sunday evening that the proposed plan would not only deprive Palestinian refugees of their rights to return home, but also is a symbol of expulsion of those Palestinians residing in Palestine since its occupation.

The Iranian official said the Islamic Republic of Iran along with Palestinian groups voices its opposition to the proposed plan and is confident that the Zionist regime has by no means accepted the principle of withdrawal from the occupied lands.

Referring to the threat of the Zionist regime, Araqchi said those speaking about the possibility of exchange of lands will in the future have to give more concessions to Zionists. He also said the process will be out of step with the dignity of Palestinians, Quds and the Islamic Ummah.

The United States has recently urged resumption of peace talks between Palestine and Israel. The revival of talks, however, includes negotiations focusing on land exchange.
