Baghdad to Expel All MKO Members from Training Camp in Iraq

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iraqi government is resolved to expel all members of the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO)from Camp Ashraf, the group's main training camp in the country, media reports said on Tuesday.

The Iraqi government warned all 80 members of the MKO (also known as MEK) now living in Camp Ashraf (now the Camp of New Iraq) to evacuate that military camp quickly.

The Persian language Dideban website quoted an informed source in Iraq, who spoke on condition of anonymity, as saying that the Iraqi government has decided to fully evacuate the camp.

According to the report, the Iraqi government has also informed the UN representative office in Iraq that the country will take all necessary measures to expel the MKO members from Camp Ashraf.

The informed official said that the Iraqi government has also informed the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, about its decision.

The move came after a court of justice in Iraq’s Khalis  issued a verdict asking for the immediate evacuation of Camp Ashaf from the remainder of the MKO terrorist group members..

Camp Ashraf or Ashraf City was a training camp in Iraq's Diyala province and headquarters of the MKO.

Camp Ashraf is situated 27.6 km northeast of the Iraq the town of Khalis, about 80 kilometers west of the Iran border and 40 kilometers north of Baghdad.
