Festival Cancelled after Spain Train Crash

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Annual festival in honor of St James the Apostle was called off in Santiago de Compostela following the fatal train crash in Spain.

Officials in Santiago de Compostela have cancelled ceremonies planned for today, when Catholic pilgrims would have converged on the city to celebrate a festival, ITV website reported.

The city is the main gathering point for the faithful who make it to the end of the El Camino de Santiago, the pilgrimage route that has drawn Christians since the Middle Ages.

The annual religious festival attracts tens of thousands of Christian pilgrims from around the world.
