FM: Expansion of Ties with African States Iran’s Top Priority

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said in a meeting with his Sierra Leon counterpart that the expansion of ties with the African countries is top on Iran’s foreign policy agenda.

“Development and expansion of relations with the African continent is one of the high priorities in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and this policy will definitely be strengthened due to the approach adopted by the new president and his administration for the expansion of foreign ties," Salehi said.

As regards Iran-Sierra Leon ties, the Iranian foreign minister referred to the existence of a broad spectrum of God-given natural resources that can be the basis for cooperation in various fields of Tehran-Free Town cooperation.

Salehi also stressed the need for greater efforts by both countries’ relevant officials in economic and commercial sectors for the expansion of relations in those fields.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sierra Leone, Dr. Samura Kamara, too, in the meeting congratulated Iran for holding the recent presidential elections and expressed delight over being present at the endorsement of President Hassan Rouhani.

He said that Free Town is interested in expansion of comprehensive ties with Iran and in using Iran’s noteworthy and valuable achievements and experiences.
