Top Commander Deplores Western Sanctions on Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi condemned the West and the global arrogance for imposing unilateral sanctions on Iran.

Deploring a fresh round of anti-Iran moves by the enemies, Firouzabadi told reporters on Wednesday that the West has imposed sanctions against Iran because the global arrogance is in conflict with the Iranian nation over “existence of the Islamic Revolution”.

He also called on the Iranian nation and government to remain patient and exercise resistance in confronting the country’s foes.

Firouzabadi further described “mighty armed force and potent resistance economy” as ways to make the sanctions on Iran ineffective.

On July 31, the US House approved a bill to impose tougher sanctions on Iran’s oil exports and other economic sectors. The bill, which must be approved by the Senate and signed by Obama to become law, seeks to cut Iran's oil exports by one million barrels per day over a year.

It also blacklists any business in Iran's automotive, mining and construction sectors and commits the US to the goal of ending all Iranian oil sales worldwide by 2015.
