Asian Junior Handball C’ship: Iran Downs Jordan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran defeated host Jordan 41-17 at the opening match of the 15th edition of the Asian Men’s Junior Handball Championship on Friday.

Iran has been drawn in Group A along with Jordan and Uzbekistan.

Group B consists of Japan, Saudi Arabia and Palestine.

South Korea, Bahrain and India are in Group C and Qatar, Iraq and China have been drawn in Group D.

Iran will play Uzbekistan on Sunday.

The competition kicked off in Amman on July 22 and will run until August 1.

The Asian Men’s Junior Handball Championship is the official competition for junior men’s national handball teams of Asia, and takes place every two years.

In addition to crowning the Asian champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the Juniors World Championship which will be held in Algeria.
