MP Stresses New Gov’t Constructive Interactions with World

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The new Iranian government’s policy is based on stronger foreign relations and constructive interactions with the regional and world countries, a prominent Iranian lawmaker said on Sunday.

“Maximum expansion of foreign relations and constructive interactions with the regional and world countries based on mutual respect and interests is the policy of the new government of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Chairman of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said Sunday in a meeting with the new Australian ambassador to Tehran Paul Foley.

Boroujerdi added that the Iranian Parliament, too, supports such policy.

During the meeting, Foley, too, voiced Australia's willingness to boost ties with Iran, and stated, “The Australian government welcomes Iran’s policy of constructive interactions with other world countries.”

Foley further said Iran plays sensetive role in resolving crises in the region, and noted, “The major countries involved in the regional issues should contribute to the establishment of sustainable peace and stability with their economic and security supports.”

The new Australian ambassador to Tehran had a separate meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi earlier on Sunday.
