US Attacking Opposed Nations by Spreading Iranophobia: Yemeni Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The secretary general of Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement slammed Washington’s continued hostilities toward some Middle Eastern nations, and said the US targets anyone who is against its policies in the region through using Iranophobia.

In remarks released on Sunday, Abdul-Malik Badreddin al-Houthi pointed to the numerous military bases of the US in the region and said the Americans portray those who are against their policies as “a regional and global threat”.

The US government is seeking to become the only country that has influence over internal affairs of regional countries, including Yemen, Iraq, Syria and others, he noted.

By spreading Iranophobia, Washington targets those opposed nations that insist on their freedom and independence, the Yemeni official stated.

The remarks came as Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive military attacks by a US-backed coalition led by the Saudi regime for more than two years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been launching airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

According to Yemen’s Legal Center of Rights and Development, the Saudi campaign has claimed the lives of over 12,000 Yemenis and left more than 20,000 others wounded.
