Iranian, Kyrgyz Parliament Speakers Ink MoU to Boost Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and his Kyrgyz counterpart, Chynybai Tursunbekov, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in a bid to boost ties between the two legislative bodies in various areas.

The agreement, which was signed after a meeting between the two speakers in Tehran on Monday, includes cooperation in diverse economic, political, social and cultural fields.

During the session, Larijani and Tursunbekov exchanged views about a range of issues, including the latest developments in the Middle East region and the world.

The Kyrgyz speaker’s visit follows Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif’s recent trip to Kyrgyzstan as part of a regional tour that took him earlier to Turkmenistan and Georgia.

Addressing a conference on Iran-Kyrgyzstan trade ties in Bishkek on Wednesday, Zarif said the official diplomatic relations between the two states over the past 25 years originate from their cultural and religious commonalities, their neighborliness, and joint historical background.

“We consider no limit to the relations with Kyrgyzstan and are ready to expand ties in all fields,” the top Iranian diplomat added.
