Iran Comes Fifth at FIVB Volleyball U-21 World Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran claimed the prestigious fifth place in the final standings at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s U-21 World Championship Czech Republic 2017.

In an all-Asian clash in Brno, the Iranians cruised to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-21) shutout of China with great contribution from middle blocker Aliasghar Mojarad.

Mojarad tallied five kill blocks for a total of 12 points, which made him the best scorer for Iran. He was topped only by China’s Jingyi Wang with 13 points.

Poland won the title after defeating Cuba in straight sets (25–20, 25-10, 25-19).

Russia finished in third place, beating Brazil 3-0 (25–16, 25–16, 25–19) in the bronze medal match.

The 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men's U-21 World Championship is the nineteenth edition of the international volleyball tournament and the world championship for men's national teams under the age of 21, organized by the sport's world governing body, FIVB.
