Minister Lauds High Level of Security in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian interior minister praised the high level of security in the country, something, he said, even the enemies of the country have acknowledged.

“The Islamic country of Iran gets the highest grade in the security sphere,” Abdol Reza Rahmani Fazli said on Saturday, adding this is not a mere claim, but even the country’s adversaries have also admitted Iran’s high level of security.

Addressing a group of officials in the northeastern city of Bojnurd, Fazli also noted that the regional nations should realize that the US presence would in no way bring security to the region, citing Afghanistan and Iraq as two cases of US's inability to usher in security.

The United States and its allies invaded Afghanistan in October 2001 as part of Washington’s so-called war on terror. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity continues to rise across the country, despite the presence of thousands of American troops.

And more than 10 years after the US-led occupation of Iraq in 2003 and its eventual withdrawal in 2011, Iraq is beset by violence and terrorist attacks, killing hundreds of people every month.

In relevant remarks on August 23, Iran’s Minister of Intelligence Seyed Mahmoud Alawi praised the high level of security in the country, and described Iran as a “safe island” in the world.

He had lauded the Iranian intelligence personnel for their constant efforts to provide the country with high levels of security, and said, “Iran has turned into a safe island in the world.”
