TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian army plans to unveil its latest version of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), dubbed ‘Yasir’, this Saturday, a senior army commander announced on Wednesday.

“Yasir is the latest drone of the Army Ground Force which has already been mass-produced and will be unveiled on Saturday,” Commander of Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said today.

As regards specifications of the new UAV, Pourdastan said, “The drone enjoys high flight capability.”

He also said that the Research and Self-sufficiency Jihad Organization of the Iranian Army has conducted remarkable work in producing new equipments, specially electronic warfare systems.

In August, Pourdastan had also announced that the country has equipped army units with a new type of advanced suicide drone which is capable of destroying both air and ground targets.

“These drones have the capability to conduct suicide attacks and can hit specified targets, either air or ground targets, such as tanks and installations. They act like a mobile bomb and hit targets,” he said at the time.

The Iranian commander also noted that the drones are capable of taking online pictures and videos and conducting other missions, including aerial reconnaissance.
