Police Chief: West Lacks Trump Card in Confrontation against Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The West has no new winning card and this is a sign of Iran’s might, said Commander or Iranian Police Force General Esmail Ahmadi Moqaddam on Saturday.

“One message of these (recent) events is that the West has no new winning card and this proves Iran’s might,” the police chief said at the opening ceremony of an exhibition of police force facilities, referring to a change in the tone of western countries towards Iran in recent days.

Iran's President hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held many meetings with top officials from western countries. As Rouhani was on his way to John F. Kennedy Airport in New York to fly home, he received a phone call from US President Barack Obama.

It came a day after Zarif and US Secretary of State John Kerry had a brief meeting on Thursday during talks the Group 5+1 talks that involves the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - the US, Russia, Britain, France and China - along with Germany.

Referring to such meetings and readiness of western powers to talk with Iran, Ahmadi Moqaddam said, “the recent developments show that Iran is in the top club and the big world powers ask for cooperation with Iran.”

He said for more than three decades the enemies tried to change the structure and nature of "our revolution," but failed to achieve any success in this area.

“Now, we see they are making arrangements to shake hands and hold talks with the Iranian officials, and consider this a victory for themselves,” he said.

A few days ago, an IRGC top commander, said that the admission by US President barack Obama during his address to the UN General Assembly that the White House was not after regime change in Iran was a sign of inability rather than a real shift in attitude.

“Obama's assertions show that the United States has thus far been unable to overthrow the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and will be so in the future,” Commander of Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force Major General Qassem Soleimani said.

He added that ever since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, all US leaders and their allies have focused their attention on toppling the Islamic system, making such a sudden U-turn sound more like a disguised admission of failure.
