Police Chief: Rate of Violent Crimes Lowest in Iran in Years
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The rate of violent and serious crimes in the country have fallen in recent years, Iranian Police Chief Brigadier General Esmail Ahmadi Moqaddam said on Wednesday.
The rate of violent crimes has been on the decline in the past few years, in part thanks to the effective measures adopted by the police, said Ahmadi Moqaddam, and added that some 90 percent of such crimes committed in the country are discovered by the country’s law enforcement.
Iran's police chief also touched on border control, saying at present there are electronic surveillance and control devices along large parts of the country's borders.
Ahmadi Moqaddam said Iran on September 11 that Iran is a calm, stable country despite enemies' efforts to drag regional instability into the country and the enemies’ plots were foiled thanks to the vigilance showed by the Iranian Leader and nation.
In similar remarks in August, Ahmadi Moqaddam had described security in Iran as "exemplary", but at the same time warned that enemies were using different tactics to undermine the country's security.
"Iran enjoys sustainable security," Ahamdi Moqaddam said, addressing a group of reporters at the time.
