Iranian Shot Putter Samari Takes Gold at Asian Indoor Championships
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Ali Samari claimed Iran’s third gold medal at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships on Friday.
The Iranian shot putter won the gold medal with a throw of 19.42 meters.
Indian Tajinder Pal Singh Toor seized the silver medal, throwing 19.18 meters and the bronze medal went to Chinese athlete Wu Zhiqiang with 18.81 meters.
Hossein Keyhani in the men’s 3,000 meters and Hassan Taftian in the men's 60 meters had already won two gold medals for Iran.
The eighth edition of the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships are being held at the Aftab-e Enqelab Sports Complex in Tehran, Iran.
Iran are competing in the event with 39 athletes.
Competition is due to conclude on Saturday (February 3).
