No Security Problem Reported in Iran’s Nationwide Rallies: Police Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Police Chief Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari hailed the security situation of the country and said no security problem was reported during the rallies held across the country on Sunday to mark the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of rallies held in Tehran on Sunday, Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari said according to the reports that he had received, there has been “a very good security situation” in all cities and venues for rallies marking the 39th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

Some anti-security activities have been foiled along the borders by the vigilance of the Iranian border guards, he said, adding that however, there has been no security problem inside the country.

The commander further praised the strong presence of police forces in the rallies and said they are in full alert to ensure the security of the nationwide event.

Iranians took to the streets on Sunday for countrywide rallies on a national holiday marking the 39th anniversary of victory of the 1979 revolution that toppled the Pahlavi monarchy and founded the Islamic Republic in Iran.

Iranian people in more than 1,000 cities and towns as well as 4,000 villages have attended rallies with flags of Iran and banners in support of the Islamic Republic to mark the revolution’s victory anniversary, known as Bahman 22nd in Iran.

In capital Tehran, demonstrators marched across different routes to reach the Azadi (Liberty) Square.

Hundreds of foreign guests, including scientific, political, and influential figures have travelled to Iran for the event, which is also a great opportunity for reporters.

More than 6,000 cameramen and journalists cover the massive rallies in Tehran and other cities.

This year, rally organizers in Tehran have put on display the country’s latest achievements in the scientific and military spheres, including long-range ballistic missiles.
