Dozens of Syrian Residents Leave Ghouta after Army Secures Routes
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Scores of Syrian residents were evacuated from Eastern Ghouta after the Arab country’s military opened several safe routes out of the district for civilians.
On Saturday, Syrian forces secured the exit of dozens of people who were held by the terrorist groups in Mesraba town in Eastern Ghouta, SANA reported.
The report added that the families were relocated to one of the makeshift camps in Damascus.
The Takfiri terror groups are holding hundreds of families in Eastern Ghouta, preventing them from leaving by continuing to target two humanitarian corridors out of the enclave.
The Syrian army on Saturday advanced into half of the town of Mesraba, inflicting major losses on Takfiri terrorists there.
The town of Mesraba represents the last link between the northern and southern halves of the Eastern Ghouta district.
Eastern Ghouta, a besieged area on the outskirts of Damascus with some 400,000 people, has witnessed deadly violence over the past few weeks, as Takfiri terrorist outfits have launched mortar attacks on the Syrian capital in the face of an imminent humiliating defeat, killing around 20 civilians in two weeks.
The Syrian army is making steady advances in the enclave, but it is facing a hostile West, which is threatening airstrikes to stop the push. President Bashar al-Assad vowed last week that Syrian forces would continue the campaign until the whole area is retaken.
