President Rouhani Offers Condolences over Turkish Plane Crash in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani expressed condolences to his Turkish counterpart over a recent crash of a private jet in southwestern Iran that killed 11 Turkish people on board, including the daughter of a famous Turkish businessman and her friends.

In a message to Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday, Rouhani expressed his “deep sorrow” over the tragic plane crash, which led to the deaths of all people on board.

He further offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the victims of the tragic incident.

The Turkish private plane carrying 11 people crashed on Sunday while flying Mina Basaran, the 28-year-old daughter of the chairman of Basaran Investment Holding, and seven of her friends from her hen party.

The private jet was flying from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates to Istanbul.

The Bombardier Challenger 604 plane reportedly belonged to a firm owned by Turkish business tycoon Huseyin Basaran - the bride-to-be's father.

Basaran is a former deputy chairman of Trabzonspor football club, which plays in Turkey's top football league. He has business interests in the energy, finance, construction, food and tourism sectors, among others.
