Iranian Borders Fully Secure: Police Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of Iran's Police gave an assurance that full security prevails along the country’s borders, saying his forces work in cooperation with the Army and IRGC troops at the border areas.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Tuesday, Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari hailed the perfect security along the country’s borders, saying the police forces are fully prepared and work in close cooperation with the Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

Dismissing the occurrence of any security challenge at the borders in recent days, the police commander said his forces are fully prepared to counter any hostile action.

He made the comments after opening a headquarters in Tehran that handles special police plans for Nowruz and the new Iranian year’s holidays.

According to General Ashtari, the headquarters has mobilized 25,000 police forces, stationed in 313 camps, for tightened security in the city during the holidays.

Capital Tehran becomes empty during Nowruz holidays, as many residents use the two-week school closures to take trips at the beginning of spring.
