Iran, Thailand MPs to Explore Avenues for Enhancement of Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian parliamentary delegation is set to travel to Thailand in the coming days to explore avenues for further enhancement of parliamentary, trade, economic and industrial cooperation between the two countries.

The four-member Iranian parliamentary delegation is set to pay an official visit to Thailand to discuss the expansion of bilateral relations with that country’s senior officials.

The delegation, to be led by Head of Iran-Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group Iraj Nadimi, will depart Tehran for Bangkok on October 25.

The Iranian group will hold meetings with Thai parliamentarians, and explore avenues for further enhancement of parliamentary, trade, economic and industrial cooperation between Iran and Thailand during its eight-day visit.

In October 2012, Nadimi and President of Thailand’s Senate Nikom Wairatpanij called for expansion of Tehran-Bangkok ties. The call was made during a session held on the sidelines of the 127th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in the Canadian city of Quebec, where the two officials discussed bilateral relations.

“The friendly ties between the people and officials of the two countries, which are rooted in history, must still continue in the path of growth and development,” Nadimi said.

The Iranian legislator noted that Tehran and Bangkok should use the IPU as a proper opportunity to expand their mutual cooperation. Iran-Thailand cooperation in the international arenas will undoubtedly bring various significant achievements, he said.

The Thai official, too, said his country welcomes expansion of relations with Iran.
