Russian Commander: Iran’s Overhaul Capability Signifies Futility of Sanctions

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – High Capability of the Iranian Air Force in overhauling various types of choppers and aircraft is proof of failure of sanctions imposed against Iran, Commander of the Russian Federation Air Force Major General Viktor Nikolayevich Bondarev said on Tuesday.

"Iranian Army's Air Force capability to manufacture parts and equipment of different types of aircraft and choppers and overhauling them shows that the international sanctions have left no impact on the force's performance," Bondarev said after his visit to IRIAF's base in Isfahan.

Major General Bondarev pointed to his visits to Iranian air forces' bases during his trip to Tehran, and said he realized that the IRIAF enjoys high level of technical knowledge and Iranian pilots and technicians’ expertise and capabilities, too, are at a very good level.

Bondarev visited Babaie Military Airbase in Isfahan on Tuesday, and saw first hand the simulation units for F14 Tomcat fighter jets on Tuesday Morning.

The top Russian military commander and his accompanying delegation were received by the commander of the airbase and after that the Iranian Air Force F7 and F14 fighter jets performed an air show in Major General Bondarev’s honor.

He also visited the overhauling workshops of the Iranian airbase where F7 and F14 fighters were being overhauled and the production line of those fighter jets’ simulators.

Commander of the Russian Federation Air Force visited Lashgari Milirary Airbase in Tehran on Monday and saw the simulation units for MiG29, Boeing 707 and 747 there.
