Israeli, Saudi Regimes Continue Attacks on Civilians with US Support: Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations Gholam Ali Khoshroo deplored the continued massacre of Palestinians and Yemenis and said the Tel Aviv and Riyadh regimes keep slaughtering civilians with US support.

The Israeli and Saudi regimes continue to carry out attacks against civilians with the impunity provided by the US as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, Gholamali Khoshroo said, addressing a UNSC Open Debate on the Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflict in New York on Tuesday.

The latest massacre of Palestinian citizens in Gaza, especially children and women, is in fact the continuation of the same crimes that the Zionist regime has committed against the Palestinians over the past seven decades, he said.

Last Monday, tens of thousands of Palestinians rallied near Israel's border fence to protest a blockade of their territory and the move of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to al-Quds (Jerusalem) that day.

The Gaza Health Ministry said nearly 60 Palestinians were killed and more than 2,700 others injured, including 1,360 by live fire.

The Iranian diplomat further pointed to the Saudi-led aggression against Yemen and the coalition’s killing of thousands of Yemeni civilians, especially children and women, and said that in addition to the killings of innocent people, Saudi Arabia deliberately targets and destroys the infrastructure of the country, including hospitals and schools.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for more than three years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Over 14,000 Yemenis, including women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
