Iran’s Zarif Decries Israel’s ‘Shameful’ Killing of Palestinian Medic

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif condemned the Israeli forces’ move to shoot dead a young Palestinian volunteer paramedic in Gaza, saying the crime amounts to a shame upon shame.

In a tweet on Sunday, Zarif lashed out at the Zionist regime of Israel for killing Razan al-Najjar, the 21-year-old Palestinian medic.

“In a week when Israeli regime airs an absurd message to Iranians while its US patrons veto a resolution condemning its use of deadly force against unarmed protestors, its snipers murder a Palestinian medic tending to the wounded. Shame upon shame,” the Iranian minister said.

Thousands of people gathered in Gaza on Saturday for the funeral of Najjar, who was killed by Israeli soldiers near the border fence on Friday. Witnesses said she was shot in the chest.

More than 115 people have been killed since anti-Israeli protests began on the border at the end of March, but Najjar is only the second woman to die. The first was a teenage protester.
