TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Over 150 religious devotees took injuries in the heads and eyes, some even serious, during a religious stone throwing festival in the town of Uttrakhand on Sunday.

The Bagwal festival, which literally means fighting with stones, is celebrated by the villagers of Devidhura in the hill town of Uttrakhand during India’s annual Raksha Bandhan.

Devotees are divided into two groups and throw stones at each other until a priest orders it to stop and inspects the amount of blood shed for the goddess Maa Barahi.

According to Times Now News stones have officially been replaced with fruits over time that led to the participants often getting injured.
