Iran Earns Successive Win in AVC Cup for Women

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran earned its second successive win at the 6th AVC Cup for Women on Monday.

Team Melli defeated the Philippines 3-2 (29–27, 16–25, 25–17, 12–25, 13–15) at the Korat Chatchai Hall in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

Mahsa Kadkhoda contributed 30 points for Iran including 19 kills from 54 attempts and a team-leading 5 blocks and another team-leading 6 aces.

Alyssa Valdez led the Philippines with 24 points including 22 attacks.

Iran had started the campaign with a 3-2 win over Kazakhstan on Sunday.

The Iranian national volleyball team will meet Australia on Tuesday.

The 2018 AVC Cup for Women is the sixth edition of the Asian Women's Volleyball Cup, a biennial international volleyball tournament organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA).

The tournament is being held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, from 16 to 23 September 2018.
