Denmark Arrests Three Accused of Praising Iran’s Ahvaz Terror Attack
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Three members of an Iranian opposition group were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of having praised those behind a Sept. 22 terror attack in Iran’s southwestern city of Ahvaz that killed 25 people, including a four-year-old child.
Police spokesman Bjoerke Kierkegaard said that would violate Danish laws and they could face fines or up to two years in prison, AP reported.
Kierkegaard said all three are members of the Saudi Arabia-linked al-Ahvaziya terrorist group that Tehran has blamed for the deadly attack in Ahvaz.
The men were held on preliminary charges — a step short of formal charges.
During a military parade in Ahvaz, which was staged concurrently with nationwide military parades on September 22 to mark the Sacred Defense Week, Takfiri militants wearing disguise opened fire at the people participating in the ceremony, killing 25 Iranian military forces and civilians.
The attack was simultaneously claimed by the Saudi Arabia-linked al-Ahvaziya terrorist group, and the Daesh Takfiri terror outfit, which is suspected of receiving Saudi patronage.
Three of the four assailants involved in the attack were killed by Iranian security forces, and a fourth one was arrested but later died of the wounds he had sustained during a security chase.
