Gas Leak in Bakery Causes Massive Explosion in Paris (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - An explosion on the Rue de Trevise in Paris on Saturday morning has blown through a bakery, setting buildings and cars alight and reportedly injuring a number of people.

Emergency services are on the scene, where there are multiple injuries in the 9th arrondissement commercial district of French capital.

Photographs circulating on social media show several historic buildings alight, their windows blown out, and debris spread across the streets.

Among the 20 injured, two are in a critical condition and seven are seriously wounded, a police source told the France 3 TV.

Police cars and dozens of fire-fighting trucks were seen along the streets, where abandoned bicycles, rubbish bins and building materials have been spread across central streets, News.com.au reported.

The cause of the blast is not known although there are unconfirmed reports it may have been caused by a gas leak at a bakery.

Police are yet to confirm the suspected cause of the blast or any casualties.

The bakery was on the corner of the streets Saint-Cecile and Rue de Trevise in central Paris.
