Iranian Basketball Players Will Play with Heart, Coach Shahintab Says
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran basketball coach Mehran Shahintab says his players are determined to book a place at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
Team Melli will host Japan and Australia on February 21 and 24 in Tehran’s Azadi Hall.
Iran is at solo second spot in Group F with 7 wins against 3 losses. Australia, the group's top team, has already booked its tickets to China, and Iran is aiming to follow suit.
To do so, Team Melli needs to win at least one of its next games at home.
"Our players have made a decision to play hard and play with heart," Shahintab said in an interview with fiba.basketball.
"I think the players are motivated, and I expect they will do their jobs very well. We'll give some more responsibilities to some players, especially the bigs because we will play Japan and Australia," he added.
