Iranian Deputy FM Meets Hezbollah Secretary General

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for African and Middle East Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian met and conferred with Secretary General of Lebanese Resistance Movement Hezbollah Seyed Hassan Nasrallah on Thursday.

Amir Abdollahian who arrived in Beirut on Wednesday following Tuesday terrorist attack in front of Iranian embassy there had a meeting with Nasrallah to exchange views on the deadly incident and also the latest regional developments.

He said on Tuesday that the Zionist regime of Israel masterminded the twin explosions near the Iranian embassy in Beirut that killed 23 people-- six of them Iranians-- and injured some 150 others.

“Israel has taken advantage of some extremist groups to carry out this terrorist act outside the Iranian embassy and there is no doubt about it,” said Hossein Amir Abdollahian in an interview with Russia Today Arabic channel.

The Iranian cultural attaché in Lebanon, Ebrahim Ansari, was also among the dead.

The blasts took place two minutes apart, with one man on foot detonating an explosive vest, and the second explosion caused by a car bomb.

On Wednesday, Amir Abdollahian had met and conferred with the Lebanese President Michel Suleiman and Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi about the Tuesday terrorist blasts near the Iranian embassy.

In his meeting with President Suleiman, Amir Abdollahian appreciated him for issuing an order to identify and arrest the agents behind the Tuesday blasts.

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with some other top-ranking officials of the country, has blamed Israel for the deadly attacks. 

“The terrorist incident in front of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s embassy building in Lebanon, which was masterminded and implemented by the Zionist agents,” read part of the statement issued by the ministry on Wednesday.
