Paykan Stuns Tractor Sazi in Iran Professional League
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Paykan football team stunned Tractor Sazi in Tabriz, beating its host 1-0 in the Iran Professional League (IPL) on Friday.
Issa Alekasir scored the only goal of the match in the 51st minute at the Yadegar-e Emam Stadium.
Tractor Sazi could reduce the gap to three points with a win over Paykan but now sits six points adrift of leader Persepolis at the top of the table.
It’s second successive loss for Tractor Sazi in two weeks.
Tractor Sazi lost to struggling Sepidrood 3-1 in Rasht.
Padideh also suffered a 1-0 defeat to Nassaji in Ghaemshahr. Mojtaba Mamashli was on target just one minute into the second half.
Sanat Naft defeated Foolad 4-1 in Ahvaz and Pars Jonoubi was held to a 2-2 draw by Sepidrood.
Persepolis sits top of the table with 55 points, followed by Esteghlal and Sepahan both with 50 points.
