Iranian Envoy, Kazakh FM Discuss Closer Cooperation
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Majid Saber and Kazakh Foreign Minister Beibut Atamkulov held talks on a range of issues, including ways to boost cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking at the meeting, held in the Kazakh capital of Nur-Sultan on Friday, Saber hailed the amicable relations between Iran and Kazakhstan and described good neighborliness as a proper ground for closer economic cooperation.
The Iranian envoy also called on the Kazakh top diplomat to ease visa restrictions for Iranian merchants and tourists.
Atamkulov, for his part, said the two countries have experienced a high level of constructive political relation since Kazakhstan's independence 27 years ago.
He further stressed the need to expand bilateral cooperation in different fields, including trade, shipping, consular, and parliamentary areas.
Speaking at a meeting with Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Tehran in February, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the two countries have huge economic potential.
The Iranian president paid a visit to Kazakhstan in August 2018 for a Caspian summit, during which he held a meeting with then Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev to discuss a range of issues, from the efforts for peace in Syria to using the two countries’ currencies in bilateral trade.
