Iran Keen to Boost Communications Cooperation with Asian Countries

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian telecommunications minister who is in Thailand for attending a ministerial telecom conference, ITU Telecom World 2013, held talks with his counterparts from Afghanistan, Thailand and China on Saturday on the sidelines of the meeting.

“Iran is ready for broader cooperation with Afghanistan, in implementing communications and information technology (IT) projects, and exporting communication facilities and engineering services to that country,” Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mahmoud Vaezi said in a meeting with his Afghan counterpart.

Afghanistan Telecommunications Minister Amirzai Sangin, too, asked for Iran’s cooperation in research fields and provision and training of teachers for Kabul’s ICT College.

In his meeting with the Thai communications minister, Vaezi appreciated Thailand government for sponsoring the telecommunications conference, and for the good relations between the two countries.

He said that the two countries’ have good potentials for cooperation in communications and IT fields.

The Thai minister, too, appreciated Iran’s active presence at such conferences and asked for sharing information and experience on telecommunication systems and cyberspace security, which he said is a very significant field.

In his meeting with his Chinese counterpart, too, Vaezi proposed that Iran and China make joint investments in research projects and expansion of ICT industries.

ITU Telecom World 2013 was held on 19-22 November at the Impact Arena Exhibition and Convention Center, Bangkok, and co-located with Connect Asia-Pacific Summit 2013.
