Persepolis Defeats Al Sadd in AFC Champions League
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis football team of Iran defeated Al Sadd of Qatar 2-0 on Matchday Six of the 2019 AFC Champions League Group D on Monday.
In Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, Mehdi Torabi opened the scoring with a thunderous drive into the top corner of Saad Al Sheeb’s net to put the host in front in the 16th minute.
Ali Alipour made it 2-0 in the 67th minute after receiving a pass from Torabi.
Torabi was named the Man of the Match at the end of the encounter.
Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia defeated Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor 2-1 in the same group.
Persepolis finished in fourth place in the group with seven points.
Al Sadd stayed top of the group with 10 points, followed by Al Ahli (nine points) and Pakhtakor (eight points).
