Iran’s Saeid Mollaei Wins Gold at 2019 Hohhot Grand Prix

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian judo athlete Saeid Mollaei seized a gold medal at the 2019 Hohhot Grand Prix on Saturday.

Mollaei defeated Japan’s Sotaro Fujiwara by ippon in the men’s -81kg final.

The bronze medal went to German Dominic Ressel and Korean Sungho Lee.

Iran’s Mohammad Mohammadi Barimanloo was knocked out in the first round, being defeated by Magdiel Estrada from Cuba in the men’s -73kg.

A total of 301 judoka – 159 men and 142 women – from 43 countries are competing in the event.

The competition will be held from May 24 to 26 in Hohhot, China and serves as an Olympic qualifier.
