MP: FM Likely to Attend Parliament Session to Discuss Geneva Talks
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A member of the Iranian Parliament’s presiding board said on Monday that Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif might attend the parliament’s close Tuesday session to brief MPs on the latest talks in Geneva over Tehran's peaceful nuclear program.
Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Hossein Sobhaninia said, the presiding board of the parliament will also have a meeting on Monday evening in which the agreement reached between Iran and the Group 5+1 (also known as P5+1 or E3+3) will be discussed.
He added that at the Monday evening meeting they will confer on the presence of the Iranian foreign minister in one of the parliament's closed sessions by the end of this week.
That is while the head of a parliamentary commission said on Sunday that the Iranian parliament plans to hold a closed session on Tuesday to discuss various aspects of Iran’s recent nuclear talks with the six world powers in Geneva.
Head of the Parliament's Cultural Commission Ahmad Salek told reporters that either President Hassan Rouhani or Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif (who led Iranian team of negotiators in Geneva) will attend the Tuesday “closed door session”.
He added that the top officials will brief the parliamentarians about the talks and their outcomes.
