Downing of Spy Drone Proves Iran Won’t Give In to US Threats: Vice-Speaker

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Vice-Speaker Massoud Pezeshkian hailed the recent shooting down of a US spy drone over Iran’s territorial waters, saying it was a strong punch in the mouth of the US and demonstrated that Iran will not give in to pressures and threats.

With the downing of the advanced American drone, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) “in fact delivered a strong punch in the mouth of the Americans and proved to them that our country will not surrender” to their nonsensical remarks and threats, Pezeshkian said, addressing an open session of the parliament in Tehran on Sunday.

The IRGC said on Thursday that a US spy drone that violated the Iranian territorial airspace in the early hours of the day was shot down by the IRGC Aerospace Force’s air defense unit near the Kooh-e-Mobarak region in the southern province of Hormozgan.

The intruding drone was reportedly shot by Iran’s homegrown air defense missile system “Khordad-3rd”.

Pezeshkian further rejected the US offer of talks at the same time when it threatens Iran, saying, “The Americans should realize that one who seeks negotiations does not make threats and one who seeks negotiations does not impose sanctions.”

He added that a government that reneges on its previous commitments cannot be trusted.
