Jones Cup: Iran B Beaten by Mighty Sports of Philippines
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran B was defeated against the Philippines’ Mighty Sports at the opening match of the 41st William Jones Cup.
The Iranian basketball team lost to Mighty Sports 98-72 at the Changhua Gym in New Taipei City, Taiwan on Friday.
Vahid Dalirzahan scored 14 points and Amir Hossein Azari added 12 for the Iranians in the loss.
Eugene Phelps scored 25 points and six rebounds while Fil-Americans Jeremiah Gray and Mackenzie Moore added 16 and 15 points for Mighty Sports.
Iran U-23 basketball team will meet Chinese Taipei A on Saturday.
The 2019 William Jones Cup is the 41st staging of the international basketball tournament in Taiwan.
The men's tournament is being held from July 12 to 21, 2019 while the women's tournament will be contested on July 24-28.
