Renovated Warship, Chopper Rejoin Iran Navy

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Republic’s Lavan logistic warship, along with a SH3D combat helicopter, rejoined the Navy on Saturday in the country’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas.

The Lavan logistic warship and SH3D Sea King helicopter returned to service after a series of renovation works on Saturday morning.

The ceremony was held on the occasion of the National Navy Day, which fell on November 28.

Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Army Brigadier General Abdolrahim Mousavi and Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari also attended the ceremony.

Earlier on October 14, Sayyari had described the Lavan warship as one of the “scientific and technological projects” of Iranian naval forces.

He said that skilled Iranian experts succeeded in overhauling the warship despite illegal sanctions imposed against the country over its nuclear energy program.

And in relevant remarks last week, the Iranian Navy commander had announced that addition of new warships, amphibious vessels and helicopters to the Navy will boost the defense capabilities of the force.

He said that Iran believes the seas and oceans should be at the service of regional and international peace and friendship.
