Iranian Athletes Claim Two More Medals at World Para Athletics C’ships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Mehran Nekoueimajd and Sajad Mohammadian claimed a silver and a bronze medal at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships on Sunday.

Nekoueimajd seized a silver at Men's Shot Put F34, throwing 11.41 meters.

Ahmad Hindi from the UAE won the gold medal with 12.17 effort and the bronze medal was won by Mauricio Valencia from Colombia who threw 11.35 meters.

Mohammadian also won a bronze medal in the Men’s Shot Put F42 with 14.39m.

Aled Davis from England snatched the gold with 15.32 and Luxembourg’s Tom Habscheid won the bronze with 15.10m.

Mahdi Olad and Alireza Mokhtari had already claimed a gold and a silver for Iran in the event.

More than 1,400 athletes from 120 nations are competing in the World Championships from November 7 to 15.
