Toxic Smog Forces Closure of Schools in Parts of Iran (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Air pollution forced the closure of schools and universities in parts of Iran on Saturday, including the capital Tehran and Isfahan, which are cloaked by a cloud of toxic smog.

The density of toxic pollutants has been steadily increasing since the beginning of the current Iranian month (Nov. 22), forcing authorities and the Air Pollution Emergency Committee to announce closure of schools and universities in the capital to minimize outdoor exposure for vulnerable citizens, including children, the elderly, pregnant women and those with respiratory and cardiovascular problems, who are referred to as sensitive group.
