Iran Boosts Mobility of Rural Women Cooperative to Meet Strategic Goals
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran has boosted mobility of its rural women cooperatives as part of a broader efforts to achieve national strategic goals, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Agricultural Jihad Hossein Shirzad said.
Shirzad, who is also the chairman of the Board of Directors of Central Organization for Rural Women Cooperatives of Iran (CORC), said currently there are 342 rural women cooperatives with 62000 members in Iran.
They are working in the different fields of agriculture, including cropping, horticulture, livestock, agro-processing and packaging, agro-tourism and reviving lucrative rural handicrafts, he added.
Underlining the significance of enhancing the rural women's socioeconomic partnership, as a key component for achieving the national strategic goals, Shirzad implied that CORC has always been endeavoring to pave the way of accessing the equal opportunities for rural women.
The official noted that based on its Statute, the CORC is responsible for capacity building and empowerment of rural women through training courses, development of rural household Small Micro Enterprises (SMEs) and identifies rural women entrepreneurs nationwide.
To this end, CORC has succeeded to run more than 45 lucrative rural household business and training more than 5449 of rural women in the first six months (started on 21th, March 2019), he added.
In a bid to fulfill missions of CORC toward rural women’s partnership in the business, CORC has promoted family farming projects, agreements with different economic bodies and registration in the agricultural guild systems, and has offered marketing assistance, including women’s participation in trade fairs and financial or legal service for rural women.
