Iran Favorite to Win AFC Futsal Championships: Turkmenistan Coach
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Turkmenistan head coach Robert Grdovic believes that Iran is the number one favorite to win title at the AFC Futsal Championship Turkmenistan 2020.
The AFC Futsal Championship Turkmenistan 2020 will begin on February 26, with the final to be played on March 8.
The top five finishers in the competition will go on to represent Asia at the 2020 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania.
“What I see in Asia is that every team has qualities, but we are ready to achieve good results,” Grdovic said in an interview with the-afc.com.
“Maybe Iran, for me, is the number one favorite (to win the competition), but in our home, with 15,000 fans supporting us, I think my guys will be boosted by 20 to 30 per cent,” the Croat added.
“The first game against Oman is going to be a very important game. A good result in that match could really boost our team.
“It’s a very important event for us. It’s the first time this competition is being held in Turkmenistan and, as the leader of the team, I will fully support my teammates. It’s my job to supply that mental push and that energy inside the team,” Grdovic stated.
